Mobile

Mobile, like each of the FBI’s local field offices, has a community outreach program that complements and strengthens our many efforts to protect you, your businesses, and your families in concrete ways through a range of activities and initiatives.

Among our programs and activities:

We participate in the FBI’s Adopt-a-School program, helping socially and economically disadvantaged students in various local schools improve academically and develop into good citizens. As part of the related Junior Special Agent program, the Mobile community outreach specialist makes monthly presentations to the fifth-grade class on such issues as drugs, education, peer pressure, and decision-making. Our community outreach specialist also addresses students at area middle and high schools, churches, and civic and social organizations on those same subjects.
Our partnership with Dodge Elementary School has resulted in our annual participation in Leadership Day. Through this program, community leaders and area professionals read books to elementary classes throughout the school and answer questions about their careers.
Our employees take part in the Salvation Army’s “Angel Tree,” sponsoring less fortunate children by selecting “angel cards.” These cards detail a child’s age, clothing size, special wishes etc., ensuring that each child has a great Christmas.
Since 1990, FBI field offices around the country have publicly recognized the achievements of individuals and organizations for their contributions to drug and/or violence education and prevention by presenting them with the Director’s Community Leadership Award. In Mobile, our most recent winner was Southwest Panhandle Search and Rescue, which assists law enforcement and the military in locating missing persons.
We are also heavily involved in commemorations of Red Ribbon Week—the anti-drug celebration remembering fallen Drug Enforcement Administration Agent Kiki Camerena—as well as the Combined Federal Campaign, the only authorized solicitation in the federal workplace on behalf of charitable organizations.
